Andrew S. Knott

  • Appointed by the New Haven Bar Association for a term of seven years beginning January 1, 2025

Andrew S. Knott has lived in the New Haven area his entire life.  Born in New Haven and raised in Cheshire, he spent much formative time around New Haven’s old characters and institutions.

After graduating from Magdalen College and returning home to attend Quinnipiac University School of Law, Andrew was admitted to the bar in 2003.   He began practicing with his father at what is now Knott & Santoro, which was founded as Pouzzner and Hadden, in 1918.   Andrew divides his professional time amongst representing clients in trust, estate, elder, and non-profit matters, arbitrating commercial, consumer, and healthcare disputes, and serving as a Deputy Claims Commissioner, appointed by Gov. Lamont.  As an offshoot to his practice, Andrew founded Hitchcock Fiduciaries, a fiduciary services firm serving the majority of situations where appointing trust bank does not make financial sense. In addition to the Connecticut bar, Andrew is admitted to all the federal circuit courts of appeal and the United States Supreme Court.

Andrew has also been active in several civic, non-profit, professional, and religious organizations at the local, state, and national levels.

Outside of his professional life, Andrew enjoys skiing, sailing, driving classic Swedish automobiles and reading poetry.

Andrew resides locally with his wife and children.
