Accelerating Our Grantmaking
Grantmaking during the COVID-19 Crisis
April 15, 2020
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and its affiliate The Valley Community Foundation are moving quickly to expedite its delivery of funding to nonprofit grantees during the COVID-19 crisis. To facilitate this support, The Foundation has made the following changes to existing grant awards and grant programs:
Existing multi-year program and capacity building grants
- Nonprofit grantees that have been awarded multi-year program and capacity building grants that extend through 2020 and beyond may apply to convert their grant to a general operating support grant to address COVID-19 impacts. Please email Kara Straun to make this request.
Existing multi-year general operating support grants
- Payments to nonprofit grantees that have received multi-year general operating support grants, originally scheduled for October, were made on March 27. Learn more
Pending general operating support grant applications
- Applications submitted in February to the responsive grant process for general operating support will be fast tracked. The original timetable for some awards will be moved up from July to late April/early May.
Small grants awarded by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
- For organizations with operating budgets of $2 million or less; awarded for program or capacity building requests that are directly related to the COVID-19 crisis. Nonprofits who received a small grant of $7,500 or under in 2019 are now eligible to apply for a small grant in 2020. Apply now
