On June 24, 2024 The Community Foundation hosted Building a Board That Works with Andy Robinson, a nonprofit consultant with 40+ years of experience as a fundraiser, facilitator, trainer and community organizer. The day-long workshop was one of this year's capacity-building offerings designed for nonprofit board-staff teams.

Thirty-five executive directors and board volunteers from 14 Greater New Haven organizations participated in interactive activities and lessons on organizational lifecycles; how to find and fill gaps on their boards; how to develop board "job" descriptions; and how to warmly welcome new board members.

Participants spent the afternoon immersed in “The Fundraising Cycle,” exploring creative ways to raise money for their organizations. Anthony’s Ocean View provided a comfortable space to network, nosh and make new connections throughout the day.

The Foundation offers a variety of workshops for nonprofit professionals and board volunteers serving Greater New Haven and the Valley throughout the year. Sessions are designed to strengthen the leadership, management and adaptive capacities of nonprofits large and small, from those who are just starting out to longstanding organizations. Learn more.
