Below is a list of grant distributions from the Basic Needs Fund at The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

2021 Grant Distributions from the Basic Needs Fund

Nearly $410,000 was distributed among the following grant recipients in 2021 from the Basic Needs Fund. Funding requests topped $792,000, alone, in the Fund's last grantmaking process of the year; in that grant cycle, over 100 organizations providing basic needs services in the twenty-town region were invited to apply for grants up to $25,000 each. The organizations were invited if they received a grant from The Greater New Haven Community COVID-19 relief fund or other grants to provide basic needs in 2020 and 2021. Many of the organizations on the list were new grantees to The Foundation as a result of outreach done for the COVID relief fund.

    The Basic Needs Fund Advisory Committee has a set a goal to raise $3 million to grow the endowment so that more grant resources can be available for nonprofits providing basic material needs within The Community Foundation’s service area – now and in the future.

    To incentivize giving, The Committee is making a three-to-one match for all gifts (up to a maximum of $25,000 per gift).
