The Community Fund for Women & Girls (CFWG), a component fund of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (“The Foundation”) is inviting proposals from qualified individuals or firms (a “Consultant”) to work with the CFWG Advisory Board and Director of Programs and Evaluation to facilitate a strategic planning process.
The goals are as follows:
- To determine and codify the strategic direction of the CFWG over the next 2-3 years.
- To produce a streamlined, visual representation of the CFWG's goals, initiatives, and
desired impact through an updated Theory of Change document. - To develop outcomes and measures which speak to the impact of the CFWG.
Background
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven in Connecticut was established in 1928 and is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the U.S. The Foundation with assets of nearly $750M and annual distributions over $30M stewards a permanent charitable endowment for 20 towns in Greater New Haven that has been built by donors supporting a broad variety of issues and organizations. The Community Fund for Women & Girls (CFWG) was established in 1995 and is Greater New Haven's only endowment dedicated to promoting the social and economic advancement of women and girls. The Fund carries out its mission through strategic philanthropy, grantmaking, advocacy and collaboration. Scope of Work
The selected Consultant will lead the Advisory Board and staff through the following three-part process which would result in three key deliverables:
- Data Review.
- Updated Theory of Change.
- Strategic Plan.
The selected Consultant will:
- Prepare a summary document which reviews and compiles previously gathered quantitative and qualitative data from various reports to inform future strategy. This document would include a list of findings and recommendations for the CFWG's strategic direction.
- Meet with staff and a subcommittee of the Advisory Board to examine the components of the CFWG's 2012 Theory of Change document, affirm essential elements, make agreed upon updates, and develop a streamlined Theory of Change document based on group feedback.
- Lead advisors and staff through a strategic planning process which aligns with The Foundation’s strategic plan and would result in a 2-3 year strategic plan or framework which would guide the programmatic activities and investments of the CFWG.
Your Response to this Request for Proposal (RFP)
The Consultant should respond to this request with substantive content in the following areas.
- In addition to a general overview, please describe your experience conducting
document/literature reviews, developing Theory of Change documents, and facilitating
strategic planning processes. - Your anticipated timeline for completion of the scope of work.
- Provide examples of experience working with programs that prioritize gender diversity,
people of color, and other-abled people working in community. - Outline of your approach and process for delivering on your proposal.
- The submission should include a list of three references including contact names, email
addresses and telephone numbers.
Professional Fees and Services
The response to this RFP should include a proposed fee for the services outlined in the Scope of Work. The CFWG has budgeted approximately $20,000 for the completion of this Scope of Work.

The deadline to submit proposals has passed.
Consultant submission should be delivered no later than July 1, 2024 at 5:00pm (EST).
It is expected that this project be completed no later than October 31, 2024.
