Facilitated by the United Way of Greater New Haven

Hosted by The Community Foundation's Basic Needs Fund, this new online 30|30 Experience will be facilitated by the United Way of Greater New Haven and will feature data from the recent ALICE Report.*

Make 30 difficult financial decisions over 30 simulated days to make ends meet in today’s challenging economy. This powerful simulation, using interactive technology, lets you navigate real-life scenarios and make tough decisions.

Join us to gain deeper empathy, insight and understanding into why so many hardworking individuals still find it nearly impossible to get ahead, even with multiple jobs.

 Interactive online via Zoom.

“Some years ago, I went through this experience in-person three different times. I felt that the overall experience served to get me closer to understanding the stress of making multiple, difficult and important decisions every day and without the benefit of the financial means to do so. When I heard that there was an online, updated version of the poverty simulation exercise, I thought it would be almost impossible to get the same depth of experience without the benefit of being face-to-face in the same room. I was wrong: I participated in the online version and found it went far beyond my original face-to-face experience, and I can honestly say it took me to a much higher level of understanding.”

*ALICE: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – households that earn above the Federal Poverty Level,  but cannot afford the basic cost of living in their county. Despite struggling to make ends meet, ALICE households often do not qualify for public assistance.
