Purpose

The Nonprofit Management Cohort is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the next generation of leadership in Greater New Haven’s nonprofit sector. The Community Foundation is pleased to offer this opportunity to diversify the voices and perspectives of our sector.

Currently employed middle-management nonprofit staff who are people of color, work for organizations serving Greater New Haven and who aspire to executive management positions are encouraged to apply.

Program Details

  • This is a two-year cohort program.
  • In the first nine months, participants meet twice a month (once in-person, full-day and once 90-minutes, virtual) for training and discussion on variety of aspects of nonprofit leadership.
  • The training program is co-led by the University of Connecticut and after completion of Year 1 of program, participants receive a certificate of completion and can receive academic credit (graduate or undergraduate).
  • Year 2 is comprised of hands-on application of leadership skills, network building and fulfilling individual development plans. 
  • Participant's sponsoring nonprofit employer will receive a two-year grant. The first year is general operating support; the second year includes funds restricted for the participant’s professional growth. 
  • Participants receive a scholarship of $2,000 toward future studies at UCONN.
